Vestibular neuronitis is a condition characterised by sudden, severe vertigo and vomiting caused by inflammation of the vestibular nerve. Unlike other vestibular disorders, vestibular neuronitis primarily affects the vestibular nerve without involving hearing loss. If hearing loss is involved this is called labyrinthitis. Vestibular rehabilitation can be used to improve patient symptoms.
Meniere's disease is a chronic inner ear disorder, that affects both hearing and balance. It is characterised by episodes of vertigo, fluctuating hearing loss, tinnitus and aural fullness.
Vestibular migraine is a type of migraine where the primary symptoms involve vertigo or dizziness, rather than the more typical headache. It is a condition that combines features of both vestibular disorders and migraines, and it can significantly impact balance and stability, often without the presence of a headache.
